How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called the children of God!
1 John 3:1

A Father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families, he leads forth the prisoners with singing.
Psalm 68:5-6

Fall

It's finally feeling like fall around here and I love it! The weather is crisper and the leaves are starting to turn.....it's a great time to be outside. We headed out to the Cruze Farm to enjoy the weather and the new season. We were familiar with Cruze Farm from the farmer's market that we went to during the summer- they made the fantastic buttermilk biscuits.

Meet the baby cows!

The sand box was filled with corn....fantastic idea (and great for working on sensory issues!).

Watch out John Deer.

I love fall in East Tennessee!

Happy fall yall!

Football

It's hard to believe it's football season is here!! We do love football at our house. Anna's learned that our team wears orange; that when you go to football, you say, "Go Vols!"; she can identify the football coach by name; and she can signal 'touchdown'......so proud of my gal!

As the home opener approached, I debated on whether or not we should attempt going- you just never know what you're going to get with a two year old. As we were getting dressed for our day, I thought of the reasons why this was a bad idea: 98 degree heat, 100,000 people, predicted rain, no toys or books, a kiddo who likes to run. The deciding factor was knowing we could leave anytime if this went bad!

So, we venterued to tailgait with our family and friends. (Check out these pictures from last year's tailgate- last year, I brought a baby, this year, I have a big girl!) Due to the heat, we didn't visit very long.

As always, Anna loved hanging out with her Bill.
Poor SueSue, got really hot at tailgate. However, Anna's always glad to see her!
Before the pre-game show was even completed, the lightening started and the rains came. The stadium was cleared. Kickoff was delayed for an hour and a half. Thank you to Bud for our inside seats!!
Eventually, the skies cleared and it was a really nice night....made even better by our big win.
We had a FANTASTIC day! Anna was great all afternoon and evening. She played and, with the exception of it being a little loud for her liking, enjoyed everything about football! She smiled and laughed and charmed everyone she met.....and as always looked super cute doing it!
So here's to a great football season.....we may get to see more football than I had anticipated! Go Vols!!

Swimming Girl

You may remember my post earlier in the summer about swimming....Anna wanted nothing to do with the plastic baby pool. Well now, my girl loves the water!! She jumps in, kicks her feet, blows bubbles and swims underwater!!
She loves swimming with Bill. I'm not sure why she has taken to these sunglasses all of the sudden?! Some days she wants nothing to do with them and other days, she won't take them off...you just never know with a 2 year old!!
"Excuse me, you need to be watching me jump in!"
I'm so glad my little gal has come around...she's doing a great job in the pool. I may have a little fish on my hands, yet.
Enjoy your summer in the pool!

Market

Anna and I have found a favorite Saturday morning adventure: the local farmer's market. We head downtown to see what yummy things we can find. There is all kinds of local produce and baked goods. There are also a lot of craft vendors. The rule at farmer's market: you either have to grow it or make it if you want to sell it. The white trailer and red tent sell local milk and ice cream. Most recently, they've added home made buttermilk biscuits to their menu-Anna and I agree, they are super delicious!

This Saturday, we happen to find someone selling puppies. Anna's gotta check them out...

Then we head to Anna's favorite vendor for a cookie. She knows that when I tell her we're going to market, she's gonna enjoy a cookie- not bad for a morning snack, huh?! They sell all kinds of baked goods. A stop at the cookie tent is always an exercise in restraint for mommie:)

Yummmmm....oatmeal raisin cookie

At 10:00, the fountains come one and you hear a collective squeal from all the kids on the square. Anna heads to check it out.....

She always gets within about 3 feet and decides that is close enough.

Then, with her belly full of cookie, it's time to play! I spend the next half hour following Anna around. She peeks in the doors and windows and visits with whoever she may run into. She just generally has a great time....and as always, looks super cute doing it!

We love our Saturday mornings at market! Maybe we'll see you down there sometime....
