Anna's New BFF

Sunday at church, my friend Carrie ventured out with her 5 month old son, Luke. Anna and Luke met for the first time and couldn't take their eyes off each other! It was so cute....the may be BFFs!

Race Day!

Our city hosted it's largest road race this morning- a marathon, 1/2 marathon and 5K. Prior to the arrival of my sweet little lady, my friend, Ashley and I had planned on doing the 1/2 marathon. However, my trip to Ethiopia and the busyness of mommiehood derailed our training plans. So, we got up bright and early this morning and braved the threat of pouring rain and thunderstorms to do the 5K race...the first 5K for both of us!
Time to go...race starts at 7:30am! The adrenaline is pumping Anna didn't make this race- thanks to Bill and SueSue for pulling an early morning baby shiftWe had a great race and I was so very proud of us!! This was Ashley's first race every- she was so tough today!! The finish line was on the 50 yard line of the football stadium- so cool! The cheering crowds gave us that extra burst we needed to finish strong. I was glad to be part of TEAM ADOPTION and wanted to give a special shout out to my baby girl. So we added a little extra something to our backsides... We had a fantastic morning and are looking forward to doing the 1/2 marathon next year...or mabye one even sooner!

It's Spring Time!

We had a beautiful day in East Tennessee and decided to get outside and enjoy the sunshine. Anna loves riding in the jogger stoller...a super steal at $35 at a local consignment sale! (I love a good deal and the better the deal, the more I love it!)You'ld think by all the blankets that I must run really fast, huh??!! I wish...it's just been breezy :)
With any change of season, new accessories are necessary! So, I give you the latest addition to Anna's wardrobe- a must have for sunny weather..."Please, no more autographs!"

Now We're Cooking......well, kind of

Since the first week we got home, Anna has been working on baby food. She was not real fond of the jar stuff- squash, pears, apples, bananas, peas- just didn't care for it. We got more on her face and clothes than in her tummy! So I deciced it was time to try the real stuff. I'd been hoping to try to make some of her baby food but I didn't think it would be this soon. And, being kitchen challenged, I wasn't sure I could make it work.....But it's so easy!! I love being able to feed my little one healthy food that is more food than water. And, as a bonus, she seems to be eating a little better. Can't say I blame her- I've tried that jar stuff!

become this.... (the orange ones are sweet potatoes). Just stick the trays in the freezer. After a couple of hours, they pop out like ice cubes. I've also done mango and blueberries. So super easy!

And look what I got...I think she might be a guacamole girl when she gets bigger! Such a happy girl I have.....not sure I could be more in love!
Tomorrow is her first picture session....cant wait to see all her cuteness in those pics! Happy Thursday!!
(I promise we don't live in the dark....I just have a really bad camera! New one is on the way- Yippee!)

ADDENDUM: Just so you know....Avacado makes for some nasty, slippery, up you back poop! All those healthy fats are good for her little brain but not quite as fantastic when 'eliminated'......don't say you weren't warned!!

A Day I'll Never Forget

4 weeks ago today, I walked up these steps
and met a tiny little girl who would change my life forever....I was introduced to my daughter for the first time!
I met the nannies that lovingly cared for her and prayed for her.
I saw where she slept.
Anna also met her grandparents, Bill and SueSue, for the first time.

It was a day I'll never forget and one I will always be grateful for!
